We had the USS Taylor visit Barcelona April 17th – 20th as part of the NATO flotilla under Greek commodore. The flotilla also featured the Spanish Reina Sofia, as well as Turkish, English, and Italian components. A very busy protocol and work agenda meant the USS Taylor was unable to accept a council hospitality reception. Nonetheless, Council President did communicate our Council´s welcome and deliver useful visitor information packs on board for the crew.

The USS Taylor is one of the OLIVER HAZARD PERRY class frigates. She is the first ship named in honor of Commander Jesse Junior Taylor. The USS Taylor was Commissioned on December 1, 1984, and calls Mayport, Florida her home port. The USS TAYLOR has operated extensively in the Western Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and Southwest Asia Ocean areas. Taylor has made six extended deployments: with NATO's standing Naval Force Atlantic in 1987, to the Arabian Gulf in 1988, in 1990 as part of Operations Desert Shield, in 1992 as part of Operation Southern Watch, in 1994 to the Mediterranean and Red Seas, and in 1997 and 2002 with NATO's Standing Naval Force Mediterranean.
