| What we do . . . We welcome all the U.S. Navy and Allied Forces ships that call on Spanish ports, particularly those docking at Barcelona and nearby ports, inviting to dinner the Captain, Commanding Officers and crew members designated by them. During these dinners, we have the opportunity to learn more about the sea services, the education, preparation and quality of its officers, sailors and marines, as well as the characteristics of the particular mission of the visiting ship and its crew. We also offer guided tours of visiting ships. Other opportunities exist to extend our hospitality, such as adopt-a-sailor during the visit; lectures by U.S. Navy officers, and other officials, whether American, Spanish, or from the Allied Forces, on bilateral issues or topics related to the respective naval forces are also offered, among other activities. |

| The Barcelona Council sponsors social events for people interested in sea power and all things about the sea. Our dinners are held about four times a year, usually at a local restaurant, and special events are sponsored throughout the year. |

| SAVE THE DATE for the annual Thanksgiving celebration, this year held in conjunction with the American Society of Barcelona, Thursday, November 22nd. Our Christmas brunch will also be held with the American Society on December 13th. Venues for both events will be announced. CELEBRATING CARMEN... The annual celebration of the Virgen del Carmen will be held this year on July 14th. The event is sponsored by the Real Liga Naval Espaņola and the Asamblea de Capitanes de Yates. A chance to dress up and dance under the summer moon. HEAR YE, HEAR YE. Annoucing the initiation of NLUS Barcelona Council monthly socials, a time to meet up with old friends and make new acquaintances to share our interest in martime matters. The socials will be held the first Thursdays of every month, with our first social being scheduled for July 5th, starting at 20h00, at the offices of MS Barcelona, calle Valencia 300, Entresuelo 3D, next door to the Casa Elizalde Cultural Center. Come help us inaugurate what is sure to be an important event for our Council. |
