The Barcelona Council of the Navy League hosted the very first visit of a National President . Sheila McNeill and her husband Arlie  visited us May 17-19, 2004.

On Monday evening, members of the Barcelona Council welcomed Sheila and her husband, Arlie McNeill, at a special reception and dinner held at the famous Cercle Liceu. Our special guests included Bill Francisco, Counsul of Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona. During dinner, Sheila spoke of the "Role of Overseas  Councils of the Navy League in the 21st Century - View from HQ"
Tuesday was chock-full of  activity, starting with Sheila's early
morning visit with Comandant Yusty, Commanding Officer of the Sector Naval de Catalunya. Later that morning, Sheila met officials at the Port of Barcelona, and spoke on the importance of mutual cooperation.  Afterwards, she joined members of the Barcelona Council for a tour of the Port. Our most appreciative THANKS to Jose Garcia Reyes and everyone at the Port Authority who made
our tour so enjoyable.

Later on Tuesday afternoon, the Barcelona Council hosted a luncheon at Vinci, where Sheila spoke about "Opportunities for Navy League / Private Enterprise Partnerships".Our THANKS again, this time to Barcelona Council members Tony and John Greco, owners of Vinci Restaurant, who sponsored the luncheon at their beautiful restaurant
On Wednesday, Sheila joined Council President Tim Cashman to meet with Juan Alsace, Counsul General of the United States in Barcelona. Later, the McNeills were given a private tour of Barcelona by Catalan natives, Alberto and Josephine Altimiras.
